Join IASRAcademy members include individuals with a record of scholarship in sex research. Membership in the Academy is by election. The process is initiated by a current member, who nominates a prospective member. A current member (the nominator, typically) writes a letter of support. The candidate sends a curriculum vitae to the Secretary-Treasurer, who forwards these materials (the letter and vitae) to the membership committee. The membership committee makes a recommendation to the Full members who attend the annual meeting of the Academy, and the Academy votes. There are two levels of membership. Although these criteria are not absolute, Associate members should have at least three sex-related publications. Full members should have at least 10. First authored publications in well-known journals are viewed especially favorably, as are systematic peer-reviewed empirical studies (as opposed to clinical reports and book chapters, for example). Membership BenefitsBoth Associate and Full members receive a subscription to the Archives of Sexual Behavior. They are also entitled to present two posters at the Annual Meeting. (Note that oral presentations are planned by the Program Committee based on ideas submitted by the membership during the year prior to the meeting.) Full members can vote on membership. The dues for 2007 are $120 (US). Becoming a MemberIf you are interested in joining IASR, please contact the Secretary-Treasurer. |
